Emoji Afghan Knitting Pattern
If you love to take your knitting with you where you go, like me, – the Emoji Afghan knitting pattern is exactly what you need! Knitting pieces is so convenient!
I used different colors of Aran wool from my stash (two balls held together). You can use any leftover yarn you have. It’s up to you!
Crochet is a great method for joining squares together. It’s less stretchy than knitting, which will give your Afghan more structure and prevent sagging.
The size of your Afghan will depend on the gauge and yarn you choose.
SKILL LEVEL: Beginner.
Stitches used: knit, purl, knit2tog, ssk, yo, also you must know some basic crochet stitches for joining all squares in one piece.
The pattern comes with written instructions, charts, and diagrams.
MATERIALS
• 260g Light Blue shade yarn.
• 260g Rust shade yarn.
• 260g Grey shade yarn.
• 260g Dark blue shade yarn.
• 260g Beige colour shade yarn.
• 160g of any Contrast color yarn (your choice) for joining squares.
NOTE: If you substitute another yarn, please check the gauge (tension) and yardage, and adjust accordingly.
• 2 Straight needles – 8.00mm (US 11).
• 1 Crochet hook – 5mm (US H – 8).
• 1 Tapestry needle.
MEASUREMENTS AFTER BLOCKING
1 Square: (34 x 34) cm, (13 ½ x 13 ½) in.
Afghan: (width 170 x length 102) cm, (67 x 40 ¼) in.
GAUGE (Tension): 11 sts and 16 rows = 10cm (4 in), Afghan being blocked and measured over stockinette pattern, using an 8.00mm (US 11) needle.
NB Gauge is not crucial for this pattern. Your size depends on your gauge. Needle size is only a guide- if you get too many stitches for 10cm, take a larger needle size. If you get too few stitches for 10cm, take a smaller needle
size.
It’s important to check your gauge (tension) before starting as working to the wrong tension will mean your Afghan won’t be the size shown
